How is it possible that such a little person can make such a big impact in such little time? It is such a blessing that we get to celebrate your first year of life, Babycakes. You have thrived in the past twelve months, growing from a sweet, little newborn, to a spirited, charismatic toddler. I still can't believe that we get the privilege of being your parents.
How can I sum up this past year? How do I express how every sleepless night, every nose snuggle, every giggle, every word you speak, every expression, every morning we find you smiling in your crib makes us better people? How do I tell you how much we love you, how proud we are of you, and how we want the world for you? I wonder if every birthday you celebrate will be this emotional, this sentimental, this special?
Because I don't have enough words to describe how you have grown and flourished and how you have changed our lives and made us better people, I will tell you my prayer for you on this day--your birthday. I pray God will nurture in you a tender heart that will magnify His love to all those around you. I pray you will experience the most amazing romance of all--the only love that can fulfill you completely--the love that Christ gives you. I pray that no matter the wish, no matter the dream, no matter the heartache, no matter the triumph, you will always know those loving arms that will hold you through eternity. And I pray that we continue to get a special glimpse into this all-important journey you will take through your life.
We are privileged and honored to be your parents, Ella. You are a beautiful child of God and our love for you will always be unconditional and unmoving. Happy first birthday, and here's to many, many, many more to come.
