Rock A Bye Baby

Adam and I really REALLY try to keep the baby stuff to a minimum (clothes being the exception and my obsession).  But I was getting desperate for Ella to start taking longer naps (the forty minutes here and there just weren't cutting it).  So I broke down and ordered a swing.  It's pink and bright and very "baby" but she likes it and will nap in it for a while.  I try not to put her in it too much (with fear of her getting a flat head and all), but it works in a pinch.  Plus, there's a butterfly light show that just mesmerizes her.  Heck, we kind of want one of these swings, too.  It just looks so comfy!

Wearing My Baby

I've been experimenting with different baby carriers to find the right one for me and Ella.  For a while it felt a little futile.  Ella does not like the sling, or maybe I just put her in it at the wrong time (she was a little fussy).  She seems to be okay with the Moby, but the lack of head support made me nervous once she was in it.  Also, the thick fabric seemed to suffocate her and this weather doesn't seem conducive to bundling her up like that.  It's super comfortable to wear her with it, but the long length of fabric makes it feel cumbersome to put on (especially when we'll be out and about).  So today I tried the Mei Tai carrier (thank goodness I thought ahead and purchased several carrier options), and it's working like a charm.  Easy to put on, and she's snug as a pug in it.  The soft structure gives her a little head support and keeps her face from being smooshed into me.  I also like that it has a larger opening where I can see her face more easily and make sure she's breathing okay.  I think I'll definitely use the Moby when she gets bigger, but the Mei Tai is definitely my carrier of choice for now.  And I am overjoyed that I am now hands-free and able to get some stuff done around the house while keeping her close!

It reminds me of when I was carrying her inside of me.  Hard to believe that was just three weeks ago!
Even in the carrier she likes to sleep with her hands near her face.

Representing the Pacific Northwest!

I want to preface this post with the fact that our baby has been showered with love, especially lately with all the wonderful gifts she's been receiving.  We are so appreciative of everyone's generosity and are thankful that so many people can join in our celebration of this new life coming into the world.  Our cup overflows!

That said, here is (according to Adam) what is probably the most exciting gift that our baby could possibly receive.  Thanks, Freilinger family (Jason, Cyndee, Chloee & Lucee)!  You know these items will be put to good use!

I got excited about a stroller and car seat.  Adam?  It's all about the Seattle sports gear, of course!

Trial Runs

We decided to give my new baby carrier a test run, so of course Remy was volunteered to be the guinea pig.  Auntie Ashley carried him around while we set up the closet system in the baby's room.  He looks snug as a pug in a rug, no?

After much research and consideration, I decided to get the Babyhawk Mei Tai carrier.  Loving it (and the customization options) so far.

We also made him try out a bib.  He's having a hoot!

Thanks to Remy's help, both items were deemed effective for the baby.  They just needed a good wash afterward!
